Lahor Engineering Ltd. is the exclusive distributor of FLOWSERVE, the world’s largest manufacturer of mechanical seals. A Flowserve mechanical seal provides a solution to sealing challenges for any pump in your plant, process facilities, chemical plants, petrochemical plants, fuel and energy facilities, mineral processing, fertilizers, and pesticide production. These mechanical seals offer reliable sealing solutions for pumps, compressors, blowers, agitators, mixers, reactors, dryers, centrifuges, chemical plants, process industry facilities, ships, submarines, merchant fleets, the navy, and the aerospace industry.
Mechanical seals are also suitable for HVAC systems, including both compressors and cooling water or recirculation pumps for cooling towers and heat exchangers.
Used mechanical seals can be refurbished at the Mechanical Seal Refurbishment Center (a fast-service center for all types of seals) at Lahor Engineering Ltd., certified by Flowserve. Lahor Engineering’s service engineers have undergone in-depth training at Flowserve manufacturing plants and their refurbishment centers.
Lahor Engineering also organizes seminars and training courses for maintenance personnel and maintenance engineers.
June 2023: Lahor Engineering conducted a comprehensive training session on Flowserve mechanical seals. The training took place at a Flowserve mechanical seal factory in Etten-Leur, Netherlands, with Lahor Engineering clients in attendance.
January 2015: Lahor Engineering conducted two professional training sessions for the Bazan Group and Paz Ashdod Refinery on seals and sealing solutions. The training took place in Lahor Engineering’s training classroom and was delivered by a Flowserve applications expert.
Mechanical seals are components designed to prevent leakage of liquids by using specialized parts with specific properties: spring, frame, rotary, rotating ring, and stationary ring. In total, these seals consist of seven parts, all of which are round and adjustable, replaceable, and regulatable. To maintain the seal and ensure it performs as expected over time, regular maintenance is required. It is crucial that these procedures are performed by a professional and experienced company certified by the seal manufacturer, with the knowledge, equipment, and expertise in standards, as well as a deep understanding of the materials and components of the seals, to ensure optimal refurbishment.
To seal a pump’s rotating shaft, mechanical seals are required that allow the shaft to rotate while maintaining a seal. The seals work on the principle of two polished sliding surfaces rotating against each other. The seal has two main parts: the rotating part attached to the shaft, and the stationary part positioned at the shaft’s entry point into the fluid. The sealing surfaces can be made from various materials, commonly including silicone, stainless steel, carbon, and others. The material selection is adapted to the specific application of each seal.
Installing mechanical seals on pumps is complex. To perform this work correctly, one must be familiar with the different systems, possess technical knowledge, professional skills, and the appropriate equipment and tools. Therefore, in addition to selecting the correct mechanical seals and ensuring their maintenance, it is essential to pay attention to the replacement process. The person performing the installation must know how to avoid mistakes during assembly. Adhering to these parameters ensures the best possible performance and longevity of the mechanical seals.
