Laor Engineering Successfully Completes ®Plastocor Coating Project in Greece
In this project, the tube sheets, water boxes, and covers of a steam condenser at a fertilizer production company in Kavala, Greece, were refurbished.
The process, carried out in collaboration with the local maintenance team, included:
Opening the covers and inspecting the technical condition of the tubes and tube sheets.
Repairing the seals found in the covers.
Cleaning – removing the old coating from the tube sheets and water boxes using high-pressure water (2500 bar).
Abrasive cleaning of the tube sheets and water boxes to achieve the required level of cleanliness and roughness.
Coating the tube sheets, water boxes, and covers using ®Plastocor technology.
Quality inspections during the process and final testing.
It should be noted that Laor Engineering Ltd. has been the official representative of ®Plastocor in Israel and certified to perform ®Plastocor applications since the early 2000s. The company has completed dozens of projects in Israel.
The deployment of Laor Engineering’s team to Greece demonstrates recognition of its high professional capabilities, adherence to stringent standards of skill and quality, and the ability to collaborate effectively with other parties on site until successful project completion. The project involved a significant logistical challenge, including transporting equipment and skilled personnel to and from Greece—a particularly complex task at the current time.
Background:
The client, a fertilizer production company located in Kavala, Greece, approached Plastocor Switzerland requesting cladding work to repair a leaking steam condenser and return the facility to operation.
The 40-year-old steam condenser had been maintained periodically, but not using Plastocor technology. Plastocor contacted Laor Engineering Ltd. to participate in the project and carry out the work.
Laor Engineering Ltd., as the ®Plastocor representative in Israel and certified since the early 2000s, has extensive experience in surface preparation and application of ®Plastocor materials. The company successfully executed the project, working closely with the plant team, a local subcontractor for abrasive cleaning, and a Plastocor-appointed supervisor.
